Re: problems after hysterectomyFor more information on symptoms and treatment of endometriosis visit www.EndometriosisZONE.org. From: Kathi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 21 Sep 2002 09:39:40 -0500 (CDT)
Hi D.N. Thanks for the information. Neither of my ovaries were removed. During my last ultrasound, I was told that my ovaries had shrunk, and the left one was extremely hard to locate. I was put on Premarin about 16 months after my surgery because of hot flashes, but there was never any blood work done. Based on my symptoms, the doctor just put on hormone replacement, and it has been working. The pain preceded the Premarin by about 9 months and started about 7 months after my surgery. I actually get a couple of types of pain. One is a stabbing pain in the rectal area. Sometimes when I'm sitting and it hits, I have almost a reflex reaction that makes me pop up. There is a constant ache in the same area. I get radiating pain anywhere through my lower abdomen when I empty my bladder or move my bowels that sometimes ends in my chest. The radiating pain begins with a feeling of being constricted or squeezed too tightly and then burns as it radiates away from the original site. Sometimes when I have these bouts, someone close to me will be sick with diarrhea. Is it possible that this could be my reaction to having some type of "bug" but once it starts it just lasts for weeks? I can't remember having the diarrhea since my hysterectomy, but then I didn't get it much before either. I have an appointment in November for my annual checkup, and any information I can take with me is greatly appreciated. Thanks again and take care, Kathi
