Re: Possible neurological disorder and perimenopause?? For doctor and ladiesFrom: Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Sep 2002 09:14:14 -0500 (CDT)
Hi; I'm not a doctor, but I've had that exact same thing happening to me since I turned 40 (am 48 now). At times it alarms me and I don't want to go back to sleep but I eventually do. Sometimes I have it every night; sometimes I go for months without doing it. I don't have any heart problems. Doctors have no idea what it is. I'm not overweight or have any major illnesses/diseases except for a hormone imbalance that has been going on for years. I chalk it up to stress and anxiety. Someone once that it could be sleep apena but apena happens when you are in REM stage and this always always happens right at that moment when you fall asleep and you're not even asleep yet. It would be interesting to see if other women on this list have that and what has been told them by doctors.
