Possible neurological disorder and perimenopause?? For doctor and ladies

I'm not even sure what to call this on the subject line, and I'm not sure this is even hormonally related, but I welcome any responses.

I am a healthy 45 year old, and in the past couple of years have developed an unusual symptom, but it only happens once every few months. After I first fall asleep, shortly after I will awaken suddenly with the feeling of my entire body jerking. It doesn't last long and I usually fall asleep again a few minutes later. It does not happen again during the night. My husband think this could be serious and should be checked. I looked around the internet and wonder if I have some kind of very mild epilepsy previously latent but has been brought out by hormonal changes.

Thank you.
