2 months post miscarriage and no period!

I had a miscarriage on July 11, 2002. I bleed for almost five weeks ( I was followed closely, with blood tests for anemia and checking my HCG, plus pelvics) the bleeding stopped for a couple a days and then I began bleeding again. I was scared so I went to the ER. They thought it was my period because my HCG levels were back down to normal. My regular doctor also thought it was my period and he noted that my uterus and cervix "didn't look pregnant anymore." The bleeding got worse so I went to a OB/GYN who did a vaginal ultrasound, there was NO tissue left so he told me to wait a couple of days and then my period would end which it did. A couple weeks later, we started having sex again because I got 9 negative ovulation tests. To be certain I didn't accidently become pg though, I started taking pg tests a few days before my period was due, and then every couple of days since it has been late. I am now almost 7 days late, and I just got another negative pg test. It was a sensitive test, with first morning urine, so I know I'm not pg. My question is this... why am I not ovulating? Why am I not getting my period? What should I do to make my period start (ie: medication etc.) Do I have to go back on birth control, and would that help my situation? If I go back on birth control could I only take it for a month and then resume trying to conceive again? Is there anyway that I am now infertile?? Thank you for your time, sorry it's long!
