Can you quote the full source from NYT? New York Times?
I don't see where people's opinions aren't being respected, except for exceptions already noted. Asking questions, asking for resources, should not be a problem, and that is pretty much what people are doing. You're right: we can take all the research, info or gossip and make our own decisions. That's why people are asking and putting out the info.

My proof, Victoria, is in the reactions in MY body and your proof is the
reactions in YOURS. You are free to choose HRT if that is what you
want. Many women do not. As for the Valium angle, I just read in the
NYT (not a medical journal, I know, but doctors were the info source)
that anti depressant therapy such as SSRI's are being used to combat
some of the anxiety related symptoms of menopause for women who want to
reduce or avoid HRT. I know too many women who went through a
merry-go-round of HRTs to find all their symptoms relieved with
progesterone cream including hot flashes; something I find hard to
dismiss as placebo effect. They would not be without it. Others are
doing fine on estrotest. Luckily we all can take the research, info, or
gossip depending on who you ask is reliable vis a vis drug testing and
make our own decisions. It is in everyone's best interest, IMO, that
those differences in opinion are respected.
