vulva discolrationFrom: michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Sep 2002 09:35:35 -0500 (CDT)
I recently went to a new gyno She did a pap smear and said she was a little concerned with the coloring of my inner and outer lips... mine are various colrs shades of pink, brown and like a purplish/black color looks more like dark stains throughout in different places.. I just assumed it was skin pigmentation or changes and NEVER thought about it.. I do not have any bleeding, itching, bumps, lumps or anything like that just strange flat dark discolration in various places. I have read that this could be anything from ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to MELANOMA OF THE VULVAR.. I dont know this GYNO from adam!!! I just needed to go get a yearly pap, and was new to the state of NY so I picked her.. She looked very young so maybe she has not seen that many different shapes, colors, etc of womans VAGINAS..I am not trying to dis-credit her in any way.. But she wants to do a skin biopsy, and is making me a nervous wreck.. and I was wondering if she is just trying to do her job, or if this is really neccassary, are there any other signs that could indicate a serious problem... I do not stare at my vagina all the time so I am not sure how long i have had these stains... it could be YEARS!!!!!! Anyways any advice would be great thank you michelle
