Loestrin v.s FemHRT vs Activella

I have been taking Loestrin 1.5/30 for the past few years successfully for treatment of perimenopause. Recently, I stopped getting periods and very bad symptoms for the week I was off the pill so we checked my hormones and the Dr. says its time to transition to a HRT. I tried FemHRT but gained weight and was very moody. It was 5mcg ethinyl estradiol. Now I am taking Activella with 1mg estradiol. I was concerned that going from 30 down to 5 and then up to 100 was too much estrogen when 30 was great. My doctor called and said "Don't worry, its a different kind of Estrogen". What does that mean? Should I worry? Why can't I stay on Loestrin for 28 days and not go off when the HRT seems to have more estrogen? I'm just concerned that you want to take as little as possible to feel good - 30mcg did it but now Activella has 1mg. Am I converting mcg's to mg incorrectly or is it truly a different kind of Estrogen? Thanks
