HELLP syndrome is only in pregnancy so if you never become pregnant again, you can never have it again. Feel free to peruse our archives and if you have any specific questions, please write again.

My legs and feet had been swelling for about three months but I had no protein in my urine or any other symptoms so they didn't think I had pre eclamcia, it was probably just the time of year August and I live in Texas... They admitted me into the hospital for more tests that day I went in, my blood pressure was fine . The next thing I know is the doctor comes in and says my white count is below 90 ,my pressure is out of this world, I have severe pre eclamcia and Help Syndrome. All they could tell me is my liver is swelling .They had to put me to sleep and take the baby that night. My baby is alive but very small 3lbs. 8.4 oz , 17 1/2 inches long but she is doing great hopefully she can come home soon. But I seen where Mary Beth and Dawn had wrote in about this and this happoned on their first pregnancy this was my third and the other two went fine, no one can figure out why this happoned or why so sudden. This is my last child I am getting fixed but , I am so confussed about all this and wish someone could explain to me also about this illness, do I need to worry about this from now on will I get it again ect.
