Depo Spotting/Estrogen Solution

I have been on depo on and off in the past and don't remember having problems with extended periods or spotting, mostly no periods at all. I restarted depo in February and am scheduled for my 4th shot in October. I haven't had a period since my first shot, but I've been spotting for two weeks now (its 8 weeks since last shot) and am considering asking my doctor for estrogen pills (like premerin) to stop it. I am wondering if the spotting should stop soon on it's own, or if there is anything else I can do to make it stop?

If it doesn't stop by October, would it be better to continue or stop the next injection to avoid continued bleeding?

Also does taking depo lower your estrogen levels and if so... how does this effect your health... risk of heart attack etc.?
