[Birth Control] Optical MigranesFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Aug 2002 13:47:56 -0500 (CDT)
I have been taking Ortho tri Cyclin for almost a year now. Starting in May of 2002 and within every first week that I start my white pills since May, I have had an optical migraine. It starts by me loosing vision in my right eye (I can see everything straight in front of me but while looking straight ahead I cant see things to the right.) The loss of vision will also sometimes go to the left eye. I have blotches of vision, like when a flash from a picture is flashed in your eyes, or as if I just looked at the sun. The loss of vision will/ can last from 5-15 minutes. Then immediately after the vision comes back I have the pain in my head, normal migraine symptoms. I had never before had any type of migraine previous to taking the pill; this is the only pill I have ever taken. I am planning on changing birth controls, I was thinking of taking Ortho Cyclin, im not sure if this will help, but I am desperate. Is there a different type of pill that is recommended for this type of situation? I am very concerned because I believe that this may be worsening my vision, which has gotten suspiciously worse within the last 4 months. I am also concerned about this situation putting my general health in danger. Please Help.
