IUD ContraceptionFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Aug 2002 13:29:58 -0500 (CDT)
I am 36 yrs old, not on birth control at the present and haven't been for quite some time, and have never been pregnant. And, I wouldn't want to become pregnant at this time in my life. I have a scheduled appt with my GYN in November for yearly checkup, and need to think about birth control options. I have been on OCP's in the past, but they make me nauseated, so do not take them responsibly. I have been reading up on all of the available options, and would like to try the new Mirena IUS. My quetion is, will doctors place them in women who have never been pregnant? I am married (13 years) and have been in a monogimus relationship for 16 yrs and have never had a sexually transmitted disease, blood clots, or any other risk factors. I do smoke, for approx 20 yrs, 1ppd. The reason I am thinking about an IUD is because it seems to be the easiest option for me (ie.no pills, no shots etc.). Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lisa
