breast exam and allergologyFrom: Husband (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Aug 2002 11:29:26 -0500 (CDT)
My young wife (30) has had chronic cold so she decided to consult an allergologist (in Switzerland). The doctor has done a very complet examen, including the palpation of breasts. I have sent him a letter saying that the probability of the breast cancer is very small for such a young woman. He has answered me that he had not been looking for the breast cancer but he had palpated the breasts in the framework of the "immuno-allergologic examination". Frankly speaking I feel uneasy about the absolute control of doctors over the intimity of women. I believe that a doctor in such circumstances should give a more precise and well documented explanation of how the noncancerous pathologies of breasts can cause the full nose of the patient. I therefore ask his collegues whether they find such an explanation sufficient.
