I'm not a doctor but this actually does sound very much like a stye. I have had a couple of them over the years. They are caused by bacteria entering into the hair follicle usually (don't quote me on that but it is something along those lines!.) You can treat it by putting warm, moist compressess (such as a washcloth...just don't keep using the same one over and over to avoid introducing more bacteria)over the eye as many times a day as you can. This will help it break up and eventually flush out, hopefully. There is also a medication that is in a gel type form that you can get at any drugstore and probably most grocery stores that helps to cut the redness and pain (styes are generally very painful to the touch and even sometimes just blinking hurts). It is called "STYE" I think. It may take up to a couple of weeks to go away. Call your doc if it gets much bigger or if it is disturbing your vision or if it is unbearably painful. Good luck!
