Irregular periods - endo or perimenopause?From: M.K. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Aug 2002 16:47:34 -0500 (CDT)
I will be 36 next month. I was dxd with stage 1 endometriosis a year ago via a laproscopy. All visible adhesions, except one my left ureter, were removed. I started having irregular periods about 7 months ago. About 3 months ago my gyn did a variety of tests (pelvic, pap, vaginal ultrasound, hormone levels, infection screen, pregnancy test) and they all came back normal or negative. I have some cramping during ovulation and menses, but nothing naproxen can't take care of. At my insistence, my gyn put me on a course of birth control patches. I had to discontinue them after the 1st month because of side-effects. I'm back again to the irregular cycles and this month, I spotted some after intercourse. This has NEVER happened before. Could my endo be back even though the pain hasn't increased? Or is this just perimenopause and I just have to get use to the bizarre cycles?
