Diflucan and yeast infectionFrom: Jas (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Aug 2002 16:46:01 -0500 (CDT)
I have had a yeast infection for a month and 1/2. I tried using home treatment and then otc monistat (the symptoms cleared up somewhat but the didn't go completely away), but finally went to the doctor a week ago. He prescribed Diflucan - 1 pill that day and one three days later. Symptoms cleared up but yesterday when I took the second pill have noticed some redness on the outer vagina. Should these two doses clear the infection or because I've had the infection so long is it going to take more? My symptoms during the infection were, redness, slight itching, burning. I had no major discharge. I'm not even sure of the normal color of my vagina, but it seems redder. Could sitting all day make the skin redder? Sorry for the stupid questions. I've looked at the other postings but there isn't much on Diflucan. Could this be a yeast that is resistant to Diflucan. I'd also like to say that I've looked at a lot of information on this site and I think it's great that the doctors respond to a lot of the patients. It's wonderful.
