The only thing I can say as a patient is to call him again. He thought the medication would work in 5 days- it has not, and from what you are saying it's worse. I don't think calling the doctor once a week if you are not getting better is bothering him. This is what you are paying him for. With hives sometimes you need to take a combination of medicines, not just one, as seems to be the case here. Hives can last for many weeks, too. It's also possible you are allergic to something else (allergies can develop at any time), and perhaps you should see an allergist to pinpoint the cause. I hope this helps.
