Recurring pelvic infections--is this a serious problem?

I've had recurring pelvic infections and my family doctor seems to not think this is a problem. I'm 29 and married so the common cause of STD's always comes back negative so it seems to be bacterial/viral in nature. My last diagnosed infection was only a month ago and I'm already starting to have recurring symptoms. I've been doing research and have found that this condition is considered a chronic problem and can cause scarring and other serious problems. I've also found that most cases as bad as I have had often required hospitalization and IV antibiotics to get rid of the infectious agent.

I was diagnosed with endo 4 years ago and depo-provera seemed to keep the pain under control until I started having the infections. In the past six months the pain has been getting progressively worse. I've also had horrible pain during sex and lots of bleeding and pain for days afterwards Could there be a relation between the endo and infections? And could the recurring infections be causing scarring and damage that are causing my symptoms? Should I take my doctor's advice and not worry about it or should I be getting a second opinion? I'd GREATLY appreciate any opinions!!!
