Beverly, I agree with the doc. you should see a gastroenterologist and have a colonoscopy to evaluate your situation. there are also other tests that can be done to confirm the presence of a fistula. find out why you have it first, cause that can help determine how best to treat it. fistulas can also be associated with gi diseases. find out exactly what you are dealing with before resorting to surgery. did the doc put you on an antibiotic? cause you might have also developed an abscess. Flagyl and/or Cipro are good candidates as they can actually help heal fistulas in some people.
