Thin Prep and Endocervical CellsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 5 Aug 2002 23:28:54 -0500 (CDT)
Hello- I have a history of Cervical problems (two LEEPs), and I recently came across some alarming information about endocervical dysplasia and/or cancers while I was looking up cervical conditions on the web. According to what I read, endocervical conditions are very hard to catch and often go unnoticed. As far as I know, none of my LEEPs or previous biopsies showed any abnormality of the endocervical area, and my Thin Prep and traditional pap tests have been clear for two years. Now I am concerned about whether or not these pap tests would have picked up endocervical abnormalities. My doctor is very careful in getting a good sample when she does my paps, but I am wondering if I have had a false sense of reassurance about things being relatively okay. Any information you could give about this issue is much appreciated. Thanks for your wonderful work.
