If you had a hysterctomy, you don't need HRT, you need ERT. ERT is estrogen replacement therapy. HRT is Hormone Replacement Therapy and consists of estrogen AND progestogen.

The recent study was related to HRT and not ERT which is what you are on (ERT). It also wasn't that horrible. It showed that HRT decreased the incidence of Bone fractures and Colon cancer while increasing the risk of heart attack, breast cancer and intravenous clots. There was no diference in the DEATH rates in the study group and the placebo group (Interesting) Not mentioned on the news Except I did hear it once on NPR. In my opinion, the tragedy is that the study was stopped when it was. Most of the expected benefits ( Marked decrease in incid3ence of hip fractures and hence death therefrom{25% will die within a year of the fracture} Decreased incidence of Alzheimers's) wouldn't show up until after 10-15 years. 80% of the women in the study were under 70.

BTW, it took me an hour to read the article and digest what it really said and meant and how well done the study was.

If you are worried about this, call your Gynecologist and make an appointment to go in and discuss it.
