It ius very common.

Is this typical on birth control?

Yes,on birth control pills. It is even darker and worse during pregnancy. That is why it is known as "pregnancy mask"

If I stop >the pill, will these marks go away or fade?

Maybe if you don't get pregnant. Also Sun exposure makes it much worse.

Talk to your gynecologist about alternate forms of contraception that are NON hormonal in nature.
