Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: Total hysterectomy and HRT" I am 32 yr/old. I recently had a total hysterectomy, and was started on Premarin 1.25 mg. per day. With all the recent hype about HRT, I am a little scared to take it. My paternal grandmother died from breast cancer. Is there an alternative to HRT, and if I choose not to take it, what kinds of risks am I taking? I don't want to go into surgical menopause, but am uneducated about what will happen if I don't take the hormones. Thanks so much for your imput.
