severe estrogen withdrawl migraineFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jul 2002 11:24:41 -0500
I am 36 years old and haven't been on BCP for 6 years. I get severe estrogen withdrawal migraines every month that begin on the day my menses ends. I use replament .625 replacement estrogen patches every 3 days beginning at the start of my menses for a full week-10 days post menses. It helped somewhat for the past 2 years. Seen several neurologists-tried all that rig a ma roll that didn't help and end up using migraine abatement regime of 1) Exedrine Migraine-if that doesn't work 2) Fiorinol and if that doesn't work 3) I have 30ml of Tordol that I can inject myself. Still I have a headache cycle and lethargy that lasts about 10 days every single month-rarely lasts just a day or two. I haven't seen and endocrinologist and just spoke with my Ob/gyn and he balks at the idea and insists on a neurologist again. I'd like to have children someday and have a regular job but these headaches prevent both! Can an endocrinologist help me? I have a fam hx of graves dx and wonder if this is underlying but my primary doc won't take it seriously either-and my brother with Graves had normal results of first line lab levels done-mine were also norm but they refuse any further studies. I need help! Where do I turn??
