I am not a medical professional. When I was that age my periods were horribly irregular and quite painful when I did have them. I was put on birth control pills and after finding one that worked with me I was fine until I hit 20 when I had to change pills again a few times to find one that agreed with me as an adult. I went off the pills at 21, was regular except for two months when I was under a great deal of stress and the periods were normal. My fertility was not harmed by taking the pills at all. After a few months of trying we are now expecting our first child:o). Best of luck to you and your daughter. You mentioned using a base doctor... speaking from experiance on that one.. if you are at all uncertain of diagnosis or treatment plan advised.. please seek a second opinion:o)
