yeast infections and Depo for endoFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Jul 2002 06:42:01 -0500 (CDT)
Dr.Braun (and anyone else who can help): Thank you so much for your info on acidophilus and yeast infections. I guess I was fooled about it's usefullness! I have a couple questions about your reply. For some reason I couldn't reply to the original post so just to recap I recently began using depo for endo symptoms and have bladder pain (which has worsened) and vulvar itching. Since the bladder pain began 2.5 years ago I have used about 8 yeast infection cures (cream) but I haven't used an oral treatment since prior to the pain beginning. Is it possible that a yeast infection could be present for 2.5 years, go undetetced in frequent pelvic exams, and cause vulvar itching and bladder pain?? If so, will taking Diflucan once actually solve the problem? What about this anti-yeast diet...when if ever is it useful? When you say that for Depo Provera to work, it has to supress periods, I assume that you mean for it to work for endometriosis symptoms. I am only spotting...but should I return to the doctor for another shot early, or just expect that my periods will cease with time and symptoms will improve then? Thank you so much for your time; I really appreciate it. Amanda
