Now it is 5 weeks post partum and once again I am flooding. I have been for almost a week. In the past three days it has been so bad that I have to use both a tampon and pad and still soak through in 1.5 to 2 hours max. I called my doctor and the nurse said it was probably just my period returning and I could expect them to be that way from now on.

Besides having the tubal done, for me it would just be too dangerous. I am tired of ruining my mattresses, not being able to sit on my own furniture, being tied to the house for days on end, ruining my clothes, being tired all of them time and weak, as well as not being able to make love to my husband. I want to go ahead and have a hysterectomy.

Elphie,

Have any medications been tried to alleviate excessive bleeding and pain during your periods? Usually that would be tried first before a hysterectomy. It may be more difficult to convince your insurance company that you need a hysterectomy than convincing your doctor. The time lapse between the decision to do the surgery and when it would get done depends on the doctor's schedule when surgery is elective. It's possible this might be 2-3 months.
