Give me a break - Husbands behind curtains

If you don't like the way your doctor did the exam - find a new doctor. But bringing your husband is totally unnecessary and probably traumatic for him. My SO went to a GYN visit with me to discuss BC issues when we were first together. Watching the exam made him feel very upset and uncomfortable. The solution - go by myself. I've never had a nurse in the room with me during GYN procedures with male or female doctors except for a colposcopy because she needed assistance with all the biopsy materials. No one needs a chaperone - but feel free to ask for a nurse to join you if you feel threatened.

Pick a female doctor - if one isn't available, ask for a nurse to come in with you.
