I have been on Loestrin 1/20 for about a year and have taken it in past years. I am 25 yrs old and here's my problem: I like taking loestrin. However, after about a year, when the pill taking stops lining up with the moon phases, I become amenorrheaic. In the past, I just qit taking it and it comes back the next month. WHat can I do? I don't want to take a higher dosage because it makes me retain water and pack o nthe pounds. Even the low dosage has caused a bit of wieght gain. Is there anything else that is less weight gain prone, and doesn't throw off my natural balances? Is it common for birth control to have this effect of shutting you down completely? Is there any trick that can be done(such as doubling the last dose before the week off to roduse a more drastic estrogen drop) Also, I had a stressful month, and didn't eat much at all.
