Can PCOS be medically induced?From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 6 Jul 2002 23:05:47 -0500 (CDT)
About 6 months ago I underwent testing for PCOS. My initial consultation with the RE, he was certain I had it, but after testing, now we don't know. Here's a brief history. developed Gestational diabetes that had to be controlled with insluin. (I was taking steroids, 20 mg/day of prednisone) PP went 14 months w/o period not hormonally induced. Went on 3 months of BCP, stopped taking steroids.Since then have had a period on my own every 35 days, but Progresterone tests at 7 dpo have showed no ovulation. They have all been less than 2. I had two ultrasounds, one in May 2001 and one in Dec 2001. Both showed classically polycysic ovaries (string of pearl, many cysts, etc.)Laprscopy in May 2002 showed perfectly normal ovaries (no cysts, just one developing follicle)They were not thick or tough. What now? Is it still possible that I have PCOS or did the prednisone (high dose, up to 30 mg/day pp) was mimicking PCOS? Can polycystic appearing ovaries miraculously correct themselves? Do you have any idea why I am not ovulating?
