Another milk supply questionFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Jun 2002 16:06:48 -0500 (CDT)
I had my baby 6 1/2 weeks ago and have exclusively breastfed her - on demand. I often only offer one side per feeding, but I alternate sides. I have practiced expressing milk in preparation for returning to work. I have a medela double electric pump and have pumped single sided as well as double sided in both the am and pm. I have noticed that the max. amt of milk I can express (total from both sides) is about 3 oz. I also noticed that one breast provides about 2x the milk that the other breast does. Are these normal occurences? What amt of milk should I be able to express? Ann E. (28 yrs old, 1st time mom)
