Are there records that women dies/more prone to >cancer after removing the uterus? Maria, The most common reasons for having a hysterectomy after giving birth are infection and hemorraging. Cancer is another reason. I don't know where you live but it seems unusual that no doctor discussed the need for a hysterectomy with you or said nothing at all at your follow up visits after surgery. You should speak to your doctor to get some answers. No, you will not be prone to cancer or die sooner because you had this surgery. You will however, avoid getting cancer of the uterus or cervix. Whether or not you have a basis for a lawsuit is impossible to tell from the information provided, and you would need to consult an attorney.
