Question for the docs-muscle painFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Jun 2002 20:16:37 -0500 (CDT)
I had mono 2 years ago. At that time my liver enzymes went up. They tested me 3 times for mono( I was 51 years old then)- was positive. I was neg. for Hep A,B,and C - liver enzymes have been normal the past year or so. Last summer, I became very tired again and my muscles began to ache all over. At that time I started on combination HRT and I took one injection of Hep B vaccine because of working in an area with possible exposure to bodily fluids. I was afraid to take the followup doses. I remain with these awful body aches. I was off my Chol med for 1 mo.- no change. My GYN sent me to the rheumatologist- he says it is fibromyalgia. I took 2 different SSRI's for a few weeks- no change. Felt spacey on them. Slight relief from celebrex or motrin. I am on estrogen and prometrium also. CPK has remained neg. Tests for rheumatoid arthritis and Lyme are neg. Dad had bad rheumatoid as he got older. Can Chol meds cause muscle pain even if the CPK does not elevate? Ever hear of Hep B vaccine doing this? Could the hormones trigger this? I am an active person. I ran/walked the NYC marathon 2 years ago. I only do 5 K's now. Some days I am so exhausted. Do you have any ideas on anything else that might help me. Appreciate the help. Happy Father's Day to all you Father's! Anne
