Anemia, What next?

I have been diagnosed with anemia (hgb 9, hct 30. My iron stores are high, my serum iron is normal. There is no evidence of Red blood cell destruction and my bone marrow response was normal. However, my white count was low (around 4) as well. My hct went from 32.6 to 30 and my hgb from 10.6 to 9 in four weeks. I had not taken any iron supplements before the serum iron/stores were evaluated. My questions:

Is the drop in hct and hgb over such a sort amount of time significant or are those values almost equal?

What should I/doctor do next? What could be causing this?

How often should by my counts be evaluated? Is waiting 2-3 months to recheck the values appropriate?
