The cramps are not a problem, but the acne is very bad. She is trying ProActive along with the orth tri-cyclen, but not having much success. Is it possible to develop an alergy to the drug? Please advise. > >Thank you I would see a dermatologist. Proactiv, sold over the internet and through TV informercials, is mainly benzoyl peroxide, which you can buy more cheaply in drug stores. A dermatologist will probably try oral antibiotics and may give you a script for a benzoyl peroxide with clindamycin (antibiotic) added. There are other options such as Accutane, but proceed with caution if the doctor suggests this first. It should really be used as a last resort if nothing else works and if the acne is truly severe (nodes and cysts that form craters and permanent scars).
