timing between depo shots

Hi, I have been on the depo shot for 8 months now and have had my period steadily for the entire time. Last time I went to get a shot the nurse there told me that reducing the intervals to ten weeks could possibly help to stop the bleeding, but tonight the nurse told me that she has never heard anything about that and she doesn't see how it would help me so she put me back to the normal interval. I'm just wondering if this switching of time inbetween could possibly cause more harm than good with regulating my cycle. Thanks for your time, Amanda
