Hi,

I have a few ?'s & would appreciate any information/advice. FYI, I am 22 & have been seeing gynecologists for 5 years. The doctor I currently have isn't horrible, but for some (unknown) reason, I don't feel comfortable around her. Generally, I imagine I will never feel completely comfortable with ANY doctor, but there is just something I don't like about her. I don't feel I can talk to her. I can't sleep for weeks before an appointment and after the exam is done, I always start crying. It's pure torture for me. The ONLY reason I go, is to get a B.C. pills prescription. So, that's my background info. Anyway, I hope my ?'s don't seem silly or stupid. I appreciate your help, everyone.

? #1- Is it possible to ask a doctor to extend your time between visits by a year - is it possible to go every two or so years instead and still have them prescribe you the pill?

? #2- At my current doctor, she always calls in a nurse to assist her (or for other legal reasons?). This actually makes me feel MORE uncomfortable. I'd rather it just be me & the doctor. Are all doctors required to have a nurse stand in the room?

? #3- Can anyone recommend a Gyno. in the Northern Virginia Area? Or suggest a good web site where I can search for one?

? #4- I've read that as a patient, I have the right to get copies of my medical records. Is it actually required by law that if I ask for copies, they have to give them to me? What should I do if they won't give me a copy?

? #5- Will Birth Control Pills ever be sold Over-the-counter?

Thank you all very VERY much for your time and help.
