Menstral Cramping and UTI'sFrom: Joanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 May 2002 18:19:45 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 21 years old and suffer with painful cramps every month, for one day out of the week during my menstral cycle. I was wondering if there's anything I can do physically and naturally that will relieve the pain. Would more exercise work? Is there certain juices I can drink? I take Midol, but I'm not a fan of taking medication for pain, unless it's severe (which my cramps seem to be). Secondly, I also suffer with chronic UTIs. My doctor told me if I have taken all the precautions (drinking plenty of water, washing, wiping front to back and so on...) that I should be fine! Well, I've been doing that, but I still got a UTI this month. They last for one week and deprive me of sleep every time. Could vaginal foam contraceptives be the cause of my chronic UTI's? I mean, I haven't had a UTI until I started using it. My doctor says it is because it changes my pH of my vagina...but does the pH of my vagina really have anything to do with my urethra and bladder? What should I do about this chronic problem? It's ruining my college career and work schedule!
