I'm in Canada, so I'm not so sure it's the same protocol here as there - I had a separate test (done at the same time as my pap). I didn't have a discharge - just itch - and it ended up being nothing so that's as far as it went with me. My Dr said that it had to be a separate scraping (for lack of a better word). She also said that it can go undetected for years, as its sort of insidious. I hope this helps.
