Bartholin Gland infection -- should I switch medication VIBRAMYCIN VS. CIPRO ????From: Connie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 May 2002 18:10:14 -0500 (CDT)
hello, It is my 10th day on medication to treat a Bartholin Gland infection. The area is still swollen but not as much as it was. However, the gland is still swollen to the size of a walnut I can feel it and it protrudes when I stand. I have been taking FLAGYL and VIBRAMYCIN for 10 days now, and I thought that by now this thing would have gone away. I am traveling in Europe, and I suggested to my OB here to have her open it and drain it, but she said that here they have to put you in the hospital to do this. They dont do it in the office. My OB in the US mentioned they do this in the ofice. Here in Europe, they have to put you in the hospital and the costs are expensive. I really dont know what to do anymore. I have become very upset over this Bartholin Gland problem, and I dont know if I should change medication. Is VIBRAMYCIN and FLAGYL good for this?? Should I have taken Cipro instead?? Should I just go to the hospital at whatever cost and get this thing drained out? What is inside there?? PUS ??? please advise. I just cant handle this anymore. DAY 10 already .. please give me good advice.. thanks
