14 weeks and spotting! should I worry?From: Lynn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 May 2002 14:45:00 -0500 (CDT)
I am 14 weeks pregnant and have had spotting and cramping throughout my pregnancy. The most recent was a few days ago. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. to go to the bathroom and began spotting. In the beginning I was seeing a fertility specialist who did weekly ultrasounds and diagnosed me with 2 large ovarian cysts. He said at that point the spotting was being caused by the cysts. The progression of the baby was going quite well. He released me about a month ago and I have been going to my regular ob. Since then I have had 2 instances of bleeding. The most recent one I went to the emergency room because it would not stop, althoug it never got heavy. The doctor examined me and said everything looked ok and they got a fetal heart. The doctor released me and told me to follow up with my OB. I called first thing in the morning and my doctor said that he didn't need to see me and to stay in bed for the day and let nature take it's course. That was it! First, is this normal? and second, shouldn't my doctor check into what is wrong or check my cysts at least? I have had 2 miscarraiges in the past and it's hard to not know. Thanks.
