If you didnt miss any so far and tok them on time you should be safe but it is recommended by docs for first timers of BC pills to use another form of protection the first month as a just in case because you could ovulate depending on your cycle. But usually it is effective after the first 7 days if taken correctly according to the website and the insert (I take Ortho Tri also). Hope this helped.
