Pap Smear and Yeast... ConcernedFrom: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 9 May 2002 14:33:53 -0500 (CDT)
I recently went in to have my annual pap smear, but also had a really bad yeast infection. The doctor did the internal exam and it hurt a bit when he pressed on my uterus. This NEVER happened before. It was very sore this time. I aslo noticed blood when I got home and this has never happened either. The doctor called about two weeks latter saying the pap results came back showing yeast and perscribed a yeast treatment. What does this mean? Why would a pap come back showing yeast? In the past, I've gone in for a pap having a yeast infection, but the pap never came back as "yeast". My biggest concern though is this. Would they still have been able to check for cancer even though they found yeast? Is it safe to say that since nothing else came back that everythings ok? Can they still check for cancer even though one has a yeast infection. Sorry for the length. I would truly appreciate it if someone could explain the two. Thanks again. Tammy
