I delivered a son 8 weeks ago after being induced by ARM due to pre-eclampsia at 39 weeks. Delivery was normal apart from a 1st degree tear, which healed nicely. I have bled more or less continuously since delivery, after 4 weeks the colour turned brownish and the flow became lighter. However, in the last 2 days it has turned bright red and has been fairly heavy. It has been accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and back. I am fully breastfeeding my child. I have had sex 4 times since giving birth all without contraception and all within 6 weeks of birth as I was informed it was safe up until that time. Is this bleeding abnormal? If it is abnormal, what could it be?
