Amy, Much depends on what is done during the lap, and your tolerance for pain. Any lap I have had, my MD has always given me an Rx for a Narcotic (usually Percocet). I can say, even with the extensive work done to remove the adhesions I had during my last lap, I did not need to take anything other than Advil or Aleve (I find Aleve works much better). I usually have a very low pain threshold. I have had two prior laps to the last one, and I needed pain meds for it. Talk with your surgeon, not the Resident, prior to your surgery tomorrow, and see what s/he says about it. Good luck with the surgery! Let us know how things go.
