Re: Lap Tomorrow Questions about Post Op Pain

Hi Amy, I have had 10 laparoscopies since 1984. My experience has been that the amount of pain I have afterwards all depends on what the doctor does "inside". I had one lap where the doctor just went in and looked and did not do anything surgical and the pain afterwards was not bad... in fact I left the hospital about 1.5 hours after the surgery and my recovery was really fast. The lap where he did alot of things... endo, removed ovary, removed tissue from my uterus etc... it took me about 3-4 hours before I felt I could get up to start getting ready to go home and I experienced a great deal of pain at home. I know my doc has always given me percocet or darvocet or vicodin for pain afterwards. Best wishes, SarahB
