[Birth Control] Ortho-Tri-Cyclen pill accidentally taken 3 days to soon.

Hello- I've been on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for about three years now, with no missed pills or complications. A couple of days ago, however, I managed to flip to the Day 1 pill (and take it) in my 28 day pack, while still on the third day of my period. I was in the middle of a thousand errands and phone calls, and hadn't realized what I'd done until later that night. My period seemed to stop a day or two early, but since I'd already had it for three I'm assuming that- as far as my body is concerned- everything registered as normal. I've waited to take the Day 2 pill on it's normally scheduled day (today) and am wondering if I've seriously harmed my monthly schedule by doing so. Also- is there any need for back-up protection for the following weeks?

Thanks- Amy
