pain after period endsFrom: Allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 17 Apr 2002 09:25:20 -0500 (CDT)
I am a generally healthy 48 year old with irregular periods mostly due to being in pre-menopause and owner of a 2cc submucosal fibroid. I am not on any hormones or medications, not overweight, don't smoke, never had any surgeries. After my last period here recently which was very heavy and painful as usual, I woke up to a very major pain/pressure (like I might explode) in my entire front pelvic area and very low back area which is constant. It's not cramps. When I sit down, it hurts. Pressing on the front of me makes it hurt. I had a bowel movement so am not constipated. Moving and stretching and standing up seems to help and I'm taking 800 of ibuprofen which seems to alleviate it a bit but it's strong. Is this the fibroid "acting up?" Could a heavy period with clots (which occurred the day before this pain started), strain all the muscles in this area? Could there be cysts on my ovaries making this pain? Is it related to my period ending (although I am still spotting) or could unbalanced hormones be causing this? I've had this problem before with this kind of pain AFTER my period ends but never with this severity. I feel fine other than this pain. Thanks for any input.
