Your 100 mgs is roughly 5 times what your body would normally make per day. This may push you into a reverse hormone imbalance, too much progesterone instead of too little, and it is rough on your liver to take orally. I have used Prometrium very successfully to stop excessive bleeding episodes but that only takes 2 to 3 days. Prometrium is natural progesterone so you should be thankful your doctor is at least giving you the safer form but it might be even safer to switch to progeserone cream. Topical application bypasses the liver initially and allows you to use a lower dose. Also, it makes it much easier to adjust your dose simply by using more or less cream. I have used progesterone cream for 8 years to control my endometriosis and it has been wonderful.

As to your spotting not stopping and your period not starting on time, it may take more than one cycle to get back in balance. You don't mention your age but, again the voice of experience, as you get older your cycles may get more irregular. The human body is not a machine and there are so many variables at work, especially with the hormone system. Then again, it may be the progesterone overdose that is contributing to the problem. Try to give it some time and consider what I suggested about the cream. Take care. BJ
