Getting scared - third day of very heavy bleeding on Lo/OvralFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 12 Apr 2002 12:37:13 -0500 (CDT)
This has been my first month on Lo/Ovral, after being switched from Micronor due to a lot of breakthrough bleeding. I am on the "inactive" pills now and I started my period three days ago (after 3rd day of inactive pills) and have been bleeding very heavily. I have never bled this heavily in the past. I seem to be changing pads and/or tampons every 1 to 1-1/2 hours, even the super tampons (which I had to buy for the first time in 20 years of menstruating). I don't understand how a drug that is supposed to lighten periods and cramping could cause heavier bleeding and cramping. Is this normal for the first month on Lo/Ovral or is something going on? This is the worst my period has ever been and I am reluctant to continue the Lo/Ovral if this is going to happen every month. I have a history of endometriosis, so I am not really comfortable with the increased bleeding and pain. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Did it continue past the first month? I guess I just want someone to tell me that it is going to get better. I am so scared, I don't know what to do. Thanks.
