need second opinion about pain during pelvic examFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 12 Apr 2002 11:58:23 -0500 (CDT)
During my annual gyn exam today, I experienced a cramping pain as my doctor performed the internal exam. The pain was isolated to a small area about halfway along the diagonal between my navel and hip bone. The pain was initially quite sharp but has subsided over the past two hours and is now merely sore. Last month I was evaluated by this same doctor after an early miscarriage, and the exact same thing occurred during her internal exam. My doctor's explanation both times was that she touched a "loop of bowel" that spasmed as a result. I am a thin woman, and there is not much padding in my lower abdominal area. She assured me that it was not my ovaries, which she showed me were distinctly lower than the painful area. I'd really appreciate a second opinion from one of the doctors here. I'm confident that the ovaries were not involved, but is there a more likely explanation than a loop of bowel? Should I be on the lookout for any other signs?
